Jahren, da traf ich Julie. Man soll's nicht glauben, aber heute auch genau auf diesen Tag, an Silvester,
da ist's jetzt ein halbes Jahrzehnt. Somit hatten wir gestern, beziehungsweise dann jetzt, heute, unseren
fünften Jahrestag.)

"Of course, I talked already beforehand with Julie", und Julie schaute nun zu ihn auf und legte ihren
Arm um ihn herum, dann fuhr Ben fort: "Today I would like to propose to Julie if she would agree to
become my wife!"

(DE: Natürlich habe ich Julie bereits vorher gefragt, aber heute und jetzt möchte ich Julie offiziell fragen,
ob sie mich heiraten möchte.)

Dann machte er eine kurze Pause: "Julie Mary Richardson, are you willing, me, Benjamin R. Sullivan to
marry?"

(DE: Julie Mary Richardson, ich frage und bitte Dich, willst Du meine Frau werden und mich heiraten?)

Und Julie Mary Richardson sagte mit rotem Kopf und einen von Einem-Ohr-bis-zum-anderen-Ohr-Lä-
cheln, ein lautes "Yes, Benjamin Richard Sullivan, I will and I promise you to be faithful to you and care
for you for all eternities."

Dann küssten sie sich und die vier Hohenstedts klatschten freudig Applaus.

Wenn die beiden sich dann wieder trennten und feierlich auf die Anwesenden sahen, dann hob Ben-
jamin die freie Hand, die andere hatte er noch um Julie geschlungen, und bat weiter um das Wort.

Er sagte nun: "I'm not yet done. Would like to say still something. My dear friends, I learned a lot from
you. You both ...", und da schaute er Roland und Ute an, "... you both are a great example how people
should behave and strive for. I remember when I showed up here around 5 years ago and found Roland
in the hospital broken and devastated. I noticed with awe how you, Ute, took care of him. I noticed too
that love is the highest level we should strive for. Who cares for money or wealth? Just a fool. It needs
probably just age to gain such insight. And though I think it's maybe not too late for me!", jetzt lachten
alle bis auf die beiden Senioren Hohenstedts, die dem Statement in englischer Sprache leider nicht
folgen konnten. Und Ben fuhr nun fort: "I learned that Roland is my dearest and best friend. I learned
it because you always gave me straight advise, although I was sometimes not happy about. He didn't
just talk along my tongue. I remember when I once had a girl-friend ...", und jetzt hielt er Julie die Ohren
zu und alle lachten, "... and Roland told me straight that this one isn't the right one for me. He literally
said: If you would just like to enjoy her for a couple of months, then go ahead, but if you would like to
find one who lasts an eternity then don't pick one who is snappy and conceited. Roland, your words,
I'm right?". Roland nickte und es stimmte genau was Ben sagte. Dann fuhr Ben fort: "Dear Roland, I'm
sorry to repeat myself again and again, but you are my dear friend. You proved to be my best friend
and also Julie learned that you and Ute are honest and upright people. Therefore, we would appreciate
if you, Roland Hohenstedt, would be willing to serve as our Best Man at church when we are going to
marry."
